 Veta Simmons' attempts to find a nice young man for her daughter Myrtle Mae are thwarted by her brother Elwood and his best friend Harvey (a six-foot white rabbit that only Elwood can see!)  

After a mix up at the sanatorium Veta is committed, and the hunt is on for Elwood and Harvey.
